A guessing game

5:30 a.m. The sun is up and so am I.

When I eat spaghetti I don't chew it.

I used to love bathtime, but now, not so much.

I like to be nakie.

I love to suck on my toes.

Do you know who I am yet?

I scream when I don't get my cheerios pronto.

I can't talk yet.

I poop a lot.

I like to arch my back when my mom puts me into my car seat so its really hard for her.

Do you know who I am?

Santiago's first Easter.

yesterday was the prettiest spring day. it was heavenly. we celebrated the RISING of Jesus Christ's by going to church and having an egg hunt at the park.

we love easter! we decided we're going to celebrate Jesus the rest of the week by eating lots of the chocolate bunnies, little yellow marshmallow chicks, jellybeans and carrot cupcakes with lots of cream cheese icing, just how we like them.

how was your easter, friends?

Delicious

last night as i was nursing my chubby delicious baby to sleep i had a rather delicious thought.

i thought to myself:

right now, this very minute, i have everything i've ever wanted.
delicious, right?
perhaps it is evidence of just how low my ambitions for life seem to be- but there it is.

i've got it all, baby!

i live in the greatest city in the world,
i am healthy and strong,
i love my family super much amounts,
i have an outlet for my ramblings and by jolly, people read them!
my husband loves me,
he's really hot,
and, best of all,
i am somebody's mother.

then i had another rather delicious thought,

maybe slightly less tasty, but still pretty tasty:
i have everything i want, but somehow, i want more.
you too, huh?

it is easy to look around and identify what else i could have. i want more babies, for instance. (not right this second!) i want to travel to AAAUUUSSTRAAALIAAA(insert Oprah's thrill). i want, no scratch that, i need more patience, and possibly those gorgeous anthro boots. i want more confidence in my abilities, and world peace.

i want, i want, i want!
but guess what?

having everything you ever wanted,
won't make you happy every second of every day.
only we can do that for ourselves.
and you know what?
we totally can!

and that, friends is probably the most delicious thought of all.

annnnd speaking of delicious. . .

yesterday we had lunch at my husbands work place

if you want to treat yourself today, and you live in las vegas, head over here

for deeeelicious gourmet mexican food!

happy weekend, friends!

Santiago received his baby blessing and was baptized. . .

on April 9th, a BEAUTIFUL spring morning. It was a joyous day filled with love for Santiago, faith and family. The ceremony was held at a small but very charming, quaint church. Would you believe me if I told you Santiago slept through the entire ceremony? Oh, by golly, he did! Bless his little heart! He didn't even flinch when the priest touched his head with baptism oil. Santiago wore a 'pope' gown and cap made by my mother in-law. It's raw silk with beautiful lace detail.

Dear Santiago, you came into this world so tiny, yet with such great promise for the future. Before you were even born, God planned wonderful things for you. As you are baptised, may you feel God's love and the love of those around you, and may you always follow in his way.

Love, mom

I like to DANCE!

Santiago has reached the age where anything on TV is super interesting and filled with splendor. Now, I'm not the kind of parent who plops their child in front of the television all day, but do you know what this means? This means we start watching cartoons! Hurrah!
But this is an area of parenting in which I am undereducated. It's been years since I've babysat, and even longer since I've had young siblings, and so all of these kid television programs are entirely foreign to me.
So I began to do some research. . . . Some initial questions: Who is this Caillou person? Why is his head overly large? Why is Handy Manny's tool Turner(the flat head screwdriver) so snotty? Wait, kids are still watching Barney?
And while searching through cartoon channels, I happened upon Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Santiago was a goner, in love forever with Mickey and his chipper friends. You should have seen him! He stared in wide wonder, kicking his legs happily and occasionally even squealing in excitement. He wiggled in delight anytime Mickey so much as glanced in his direction. And the Hot Dog Dance? Forget it. Instant classic.
We also discovered the brilliance of Yo Gabba Gabba. Seriously, Yo Gabba Gabba where have you been all my life question mark?
So, now I must know: WHAT ELSE ARE WE MISSING? Spill it, friends. What programming is worth our eyeballs and what should we avoid?

Well, we are now back in Las Vegas!

Hooray!

We landed late last night and immediately I started to feel . . .

what is that????? . . . . . Grandchild theft-related guilt?

These days there are all manner of technologies designed to keep us close together

in a world that is increasingly keeping us far apart. Unlimited cell phone minutes,

emails and text messages, Skype, Google Chat and FaceTime . . .

but sometimes that all just isn’t good enough.

Some days I long for my in-laws to live near us. I have always been, and will always be

one heck of a homebody. Weirdly, even though I am in my late twenties, and I have a

family of my own now, that home for my which my body still longs seems to be the

home of my dear old mom and dad and my in-laws cozy home.

And aren’t I getting a little too old for this already?

How old is too old to feel homesick? 90? 92?

Oh, good.

Santiago with grandpa Juvenal

We had to surgically remove the two from each other.

farewell friends.

We leave TOMORROW for our first family vacation with our little boy. This time tomorrow we'll be 37,000 feet high up in the air! And while I'm reeeeeally excited, I'm also feeling very anxious, scared and nervous, it will be Santiago's first airplane ride!!!
Perhaps, I have Pre-flight jitters???
We've taken this trip before. . . . . but never with Santiago. He is only eight and a half months old and won’t remember this trip, but I know we always will. We will remember and cherish it all because nothing is sweeter than a first time family vacation with just the three of us.

we'll meet again in 9 days!
same place, same time.
OK, good.
